The program will help future leaders to increase their self pride and courage, it will teach basic life skills that increase participants self confidence and employability.
What does it involve?
Consisting of a variety of content. Including, but not limited to:
Taku Wairua pillars Belonging, Self Discovery, Goal Setting, Citizenship.
Excursions that encourage courageous learning e.g. bungee jumping
Multiple life skills workshops (EG, cooking, nutrition, CV, First Aid etc.)
Guest speakers including high profile athletes, motivational speakers, business owners, and community leaders
Exploring Pepeha, whakapapa and places of significance
Regular physical activity with local gyms
Gaining drivers licence and first aid (if applicable)
Work experience, working toward gaining full-time employment
Service to the community
What’s the cost?
Thanks to our sponsors, this program is fully funded for the successful applicants.
How does it work?
This program is currently being delivered over four blocks, with a one week break between some blocks.
We’ll be working together five days per week Monday-Friday.
Hours per day on average will be 8:00am to 3:00pm
Where are we?
Based out of our office situated at the Fraser Tech Rugby Club in Hamilton. We have a van that travels daily from Morrinsville, meaning this kaupapa is available to youth in Morrinsville
Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate is 16-17 and lives in the Morrinsville/Piako, and wider Hamilton areas. They would appreciate support in creating their direction and pathway in life.
